Sylvania Mechanical Pencil and Flash Calculator

The purpose of this flash calculator was to determine the correct exposure when shooting with flash bulbs.  Rings around the body of the pencil are rotated, aligning one scale with the next in succession.  The type of flash bulb to be used is set against a scale of shutter speeds, then the shutter speed to be used is aligned with the film type,  Voila!  All of this action results in a readout of the proper lens aperture setting for subject distances from four to fifty feet.

And you could make careful notes of your exposures with the handy built-in mechanical pencil.  Very cool.
